About me When we bought our house in 1991, it was a semi ruin. Together my wife and I renovated the property into our dream home. We were the first non-French to live in our commune, something that was noted by our local Mayor one time with an award ! Since moving permanently to France in March 1993, my wife and I have run self-catering holidays, B&B and painting courses. We grow our own veg, and enjoy gardening and tending our two acres. When we lived in the U.K. I was a chef, and my wife an artist. These two professions combined and made the combination we needed for our painting school. Our guests come from far and wide, from all corners of the globe, and stay in our home for a week or a two week stay. As someone who enjoys looking at properties, and after buying and selling several privately, in 2008 my ideal job opportunity came to pass, when it was suggested that I join Leggett Immobilièr. The challenge was made greater due to the credit crunch. I love my work and enjoy finding new and exciting properties. Every property is unique in France and in every region there are different styles. One day I could visit a barn to renovate, and another, maybe a rambling château. Every day brings something new. We love living here and have met some really good friends, both French and English, so have a good social life. We haven’t regretted our move here one bit. I look forward to helping you find the right property, and assisting you in buying your dream home in my part of France. | | About my area The Mayenne used to be the bread basket of France. Today it keeps its beauty and charm which attracted us in the first place. With more châteaux and more miles of rivers then any other department, The Mayenne holds many secrets and has its share of famous people both past and present, including the sculptor Debris and ex-finance minister Jean Arthuis, who was made more famous for getting the Mayenne logo, a Pegasus, put onto the rear of one of the Euro coins. Many well known artists, and sports people, including sailors also live here. The well known cheese Port Salut is made near Chateau Gontier and other well known cheeses such as Chaussée aux Moines and St Paulin are made in Craon. There are several well known horse race tracks around the region including Laval, Le Lion D’Angers, Sennones to name but a few. Angers is another well known city, set between the rivers Maine and Loire. Why not come and discover this wonderful region for yourself, be seduced by it, as my wife and I were. I look forward to meeting you and showing you my part of France. |
