I have lived in the Charente for nearly five years now, spoke no French when I got here, but have since learnt! I bought my first house as a renovation project which took a year to renovate and was supposed to be a holiday home, but coming over made me realize how much I loved it here and wanted to stay. So I sold up in the UK, actually ended up selling my holiday home and bought a larger one and started working with the agency. |  | About my area
I work in the South of the Charente and the Dordogne. I love it where I am, it is on the border of nearly three departments. The countryside around me has rolling hills, trees, is lush green in colour and it has the seasons. There are wide open views and some hilly parts, but absolutely beautiful. I am close to Angouleme which is a great city, has all the shops, restaurants and bars that you need and with it's new shopping centre and airport opening, there isn't much more you will need! All the villages are pretty, you can drive for miles and each village has it's own character and style, there is no crime and no vandalism, you literally can leave your front door unlocked. |
